But I thought Macs were always easier

What's wrong with this picture?

I just got my awesome new 1.5 TB drive, put it in an external USB case, and connected it to the Mac I use as a server in the office upstairs. Downloaded Silverkeeper, a backup program for Mac, and tried to take my first backup snapshot. Got the following error message:

<quote>Sorry: The Destination volume you have chosen is too small to hold the required backup data. You will nee to go back and make another choice</quote>

My Mac has an 80 GB drive. My new external drive is 1500GB. If my drive was full, I could make a copy once a week and not run out of space until Mackenzie starts Kindergarden next fall.

I'm sure it's an easy fix. I haven't even consulted google yet. But still...

The mac is easy because it

The mac is easy because it doesn't worry about things like units. Only the numbers are important. For example, you clearly didn't notice that your 80GB drive is holding 945 "thingies" of data which is greater than 1.3 "thingies" worth of disk space. If you just ignore those pesky units, this makes perfect sense. Go out and get yourself a 1024K floppy disk and it will fit everything perfectly! -mike

Just like Democraps

Democrats/craps don't understand the concept of size either...just the numbers are scary to them. 1.5 Trillion deficit...big deal. 125 million bonuses!?! OMG, that's outrageous!!!!!
